College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Animal Care and Use Committee
The CALS ACUC provides oversight of thirteen campus animal facilities, fourteen agricultural research stations throughout the state, and a fish hatchery jointly administered with the DNR. Daily operations oversight of the facilities falls under various departments, faculty supervisors, facility managers, and individual Principal Investigators. The agricultural research stations are centralized under a College administrative unit. The research Program is very broad, reflecting the extensive scope of the College. The ACUC is currently chaired by Dr. N.J. Benevenga, Professor Emeritus, Animal Sciences Department. The College animal program earned AAALAC accreditation in 2006.
