Anesthesia Monitoring for Small Animals (rodents, birds, amphibians, reptiles)
The following must be included in surgical and anesthesia records for small animals:
- PI name
- Animal ID(s)
- Species
- Protocol number
- Date
- Surgeon/operator
- Animal weight(s) or range of weights (required for injectable anesthetics)
- Preoperative medications if any
- Anesthetic agent(s), including dosage and volume for injectable; percentages for inhaled
- Anesthesia start/finish times
- Surgery start/finish times
- Name or description of procedure
- Intraoperative fluid support/analgesia, if any
- Standard postoperative care
